Though HBO’s dark mobster drama, The Penguin has come to a season end, it doesn’t mean Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti) has made her last kill. In the finale, while locked away in Arkham, Sofia receives a letter sent by Selina Kyle (Zoë Kravitz), her half-sister. It’s a small moment in the series that has a large cinematic impact on the upcoming The Batman Part II.
Milioti, fresh off a Critics Choice win where she won Best Actress in a Limited Series, spoke to Deadline on the Independent Spirits red carpet on Sunday about the potential implications of sharing the big screen with Kravitz. “I would love that. I love her and I think we could really get into some real shit,” Milioti said. “I think we would have a great time.” As for going toe-to-toe with The Batman, Robert Pattinson, himself? “He’s one of our best actors. I would love [the opportunity].” The actor went on to say she would love to see Sofia continue on and “come into her power and seek revenge” in the Matt Reeves universe.
The Penguin, helmed by showrunner Lauren LeFranc, follows the rise of mobster and general ne’er do well Oswald Cobblepot (Colin Farrell) as he navigates Gotham City’s seedy underground while going against the famous Falcone family. The DC series, which started out as an entity to bridge the narrative gap between The Batman and The Batman Part II, became HBO’s third-most watched debut season, following The House of the Dragon and The Last of Us

When asked about what audiences are responding to in the story of Oswald, Sofia and the litany of other loved Gotham citizens, Milioti said: “This [love] is such a testament to our showrunner, Lauren LeFranc. I think it tows this really incredible line between being believable and then a heightened opera. It allows you to escape and live out your own fantasy of if someone wrongs you, you could really just burn it all down. But you understand why they’re operating from these places of pain.”
