The Producers Guild on Saturday handed out it big feature film prize to Neon’s Anora, giving the indie comedy that won last spring’s Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or a massive boost and its third major award in 24 hours, after winning Best Picture at the Critics Choice Awards on Friday and the DGA Awards tonight.
Anora beat out fellow Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures nominees from The Brutalist, A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Dune: Part Two, Emilia Pérez, A Real Pain, September 5, The Substance and Wicked.
The PGA‘s Zancuck awards is an Oscar bellwether category that has aligned with the Academy Award winner for Best Picture 16 of the past 21 years. Last year, it aligned with Oscar when the PGA gave the award to Oppenheimer.
Tonight’s PGA Awards ceremony was at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City, culminating a week of events on both coasts to honor the past year’s best in producing across TV and motion pictures.
