Costume Designers Guild Dresses Up Its 2027 Awards Date & Timeline

Start dressing that set: The Costume Designers Guild said Friday that its 29th annual CDG Awards is set for Thursday, February 25, in Los Angeles. It also revealed other key dates for the 2027 CDGA; see them below.

Nominations for IATSE Local 892’s awards, which celebrate excellence in film, TV and shortform costume design and costume illustration, will be revealed on Friday, December 18. Other details including the venue, host, presenters, career honorees and more will be revealed in the coming months, the guild said.

Frankenstein, Wicked: For Good and One Battle After Another took the top film prizes at the 28th CDG Awards in February, with The Studio and Palm Royale among the TV winners. Since the guild launched its awards show in 1999, the Academy Award for Costume Design has gone to a period film every year but four: Mad Max: Fury Road (2016), Black Panther (2019), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2023) and Wicked: For Good (2025). Kate Hawley won hte Academy Award for Frankenstein back in March.

The Costume Designers Guild includes more than 1,000 costume designers, assistant costume designers and illustrators working in motion pictures, TV, commercials, music videos and new media programs throughout the world.
