‘RHOP’s Wendy Osefo On How Friendship With Gizelle Bryant Has Evolved & Allowing Herself To Put Her Guard Down

Wendy Osefo is going into her sixth season of The Real Housewives of Potomac as Season 10 premieres on Bravo.

Starring in the milestone tenth season is a big feat, and ahead of the premiere, Deadline talked to Osefo to give us a sneak peek of what is to come.

“For any show to be on air and to be successful for 10 seasons is a historic feat and [it] should be commended,” Osefo told us. “I joined the franchise in Season 5, and just to think of how far we have come as a franchise, and to be in double digits – I was just excited to be a part of what will go down in history as an iconic season.”

The Season 10 premiere of RHOP addresses Karen Huger’s absence following her DUI conviction. With a massive loss to the cast, we asked Osefo if she and her co-stars felt any added pressure to fill in for Huger.

“I don’t think it was necessarily an added pressure,” she said. “The reunion for season 9, [the cast] had to carry three episodes without Karen, so I think coming into this season, we sort of knew that maybe the case. We all stepped up to the plate and did what we had to do.”

One of the things that has blossomed for Osefo is her friendship with Gizelle Bryant, with the multi-facted Bravo star acknowledging that she has “gotten to a place where we’re able to talk to each other whenever we hit a rough patch and then still be able to have fun,” adding, “I think that’s really important in any friendship. You’re going to have rough patches and you’re going to have hiccups, but it’s how you bounce back from that. It has been an interesting journey to be on with her.”

Osefo teased that her friendship with Stacey Rusch really blossoms in the new season, saying, “I had questions about Stacey, but I also feel as though once you get to a certain point with someone and they’ve given you [their] answer, you can’t beat them or continue to bound them for the answer you want. You just have to decide if you’re willing to take the person’s answer at face value and move on. I chose to just take whatever she said and move on and see where our relationship evolves.”

As for what Osefo is sharing with viewers this season, she says that we will “delve deeper” into her career changes, as well as her assistance with her husband’s cannabis business, “Happy Eddie.”

“Eddie being able to navigate that naturally puts pressure on our family because we have 3 kids at home and he has to attend different events,” she teased.

She continued, “This season, I get to reconnect with someone from my past and that reconnection not only has an impact on me, but has an impact on others around me, who I love and that’s something that was hard for me. I had to really let go [and] put my guards down around trying to protect my emotions. I’m really looking forward to the audience being able to see the growth I have, both professionally as well as personally.”

Each season of The Real Housewives allows them to grow their bonds and relationships, Osefo admitted that “it was really great” getting to know Gizelle Bryant, Ashley Darby and Stacey Rusch “on a deeper level,” adding, “The beauty of the show is not being stagnant or being in one place with any lady in the group, whether that’s elevating your relationship or sometimes we separate our relationships.”

The Real Housewives of Potomac airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo and is available on-demand the next day on Peacock.
