Kathy Bates is set to reprise her role of Madeline Matlock in the CBS legal drama Matlock.
Season 2 of the series is set to premiere on October 12 with the returning cast including Skye P. Marshall (Olympia Lawrence), Jason Ritter (Julian Markston), David del Río (Billy Martínez), Leah Lewis (Sarah Franklin), and Beau Bridges as Howard “Senior” Markston.
Episode 1 of Matlock Season 2 is titled “The Before Times,” and CBS released a description of what viewers can expect.
“Matty questions the paternity of the man claiming to be Alfie’s father. Also, the team takes on an arson case while Olympia tries to protect Julian’s involvement in the Wellbrexa case, on the second season premiere of Matlock,” reads the description.
Season 2 will see Justina Machado joining the cast of Matlock in a major recurring role. Machado will play Eva, a formidable, smart, and ambitious attorney, and Jacobson Moore managing partner Howard “Senior” Markston’s (Bridges) 4th ex-wife. The one who made him swear off marriage. Eva runs Jacobson Moore’s Miami office and she arrives in New York for an emergency meeting… which she uses to her advantage.

Matlock has been a breakout hit for CBS, with star Bates scoring multiple acting nods in major award shows, including an Emmy, where she made history as the oldest woman nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category.
