‘America’s Trial: Torture and the 9/11 Case’ Optioned

EXCLUSIVE: Clockwork Films has optioned John Ryan’s recently published non-fiction book ‘America’s Trial: Torture and the 9/11 Case’ and plans to work it up as a drama series. John Ryan is a veteran legal affairs journalist and his new book was published by Skyhorse this week. It is an account of the legal cases following 9/11 and memoir of numerous reporting visits to Guantanamo Bay. Clockwork Films is developing it as a series under the working title Welcome to Camp Justice, a reference to the part of Guantanamo where terror suspects are tried. The plan is for the series to center on Ryan as narrator, an outsider who becomes embedded in the surreal world of Camp Justice. “This is the story of a justice system stuck in a loop,” Ryan said. “It’s about mostly good people trapped inside a broken process and what it does to everyone who tries to make it work. It’s also a story that has been almost entirely ignored, despite its historic, tragic and at times outrageous nature.”
