EXCLUSIVE: German distributor Global Screen is in London with a new slate including crime miniseries Murder on the Inca Trail.
Also on the MIP London slate are the second seasons of scripted series Recipes for Love and Murder and The Palace, Season 4 of season 4 of procedural Mountain Murders and the latest productions from the Finest Fairytales franchise.
True- crime miniseries Murder on the Inca Trail (Mord auf dem Inka-Pfad) is billed as a “gripping international crime thriller” that spans continents, from the remote heights of the Inca trail to the bustling streets of Munich and New York.
Synopsis reads: “Munich native Ursula Glück is shot and killed in her sleep during a dream honeymoon on the Inca Trail. Her husband, Jona Kepler, the sole witness, claims they were attacked by two men. Back in Munich, homicide detectives investigate, but suspicion falls on Kepler. With no motive or evidence, the truth remains elusive.”

The series is produced by Westside Filmproduktion GmbH for pubcaster ARD Degeto.
Season 2 of The Palace (Der Palast) is set in Berlin in 1990, where ballet director Regina Feldmann and a trio of up-and-coming young dancers face personal and professional turmoil as they navigate love, fears and ambitions while battling to save the theater during a chaotic period of world history. Academy-Award-nominated Uli Edel (The Baader Meinhof Complex) is the director.
The show was initially intended to be a miniseries, but had a strong enough response that ZDF moved to commission a second season. The series is produced by MOOVIE and Constantin Film.
English-language murder mystery series Recipes for Love and Murder is also returning, with Maria Doyle Kennedy (Outlander, Orphan Black, Kin) starring. Based on the novel by South African author Sally Andrew, it picks up a few weeks after the end of Season 1. Synopsis reads: “As a large fire engulfs the small town of Eden, a fateful chain of events is triggered, and Tannie Maria, Jessie and Khaya get dragged into a multiple murder investigation that unearths the small town’s darkest secrets.”
The series is produced by Both Worlds in association with M-Net and streamer Acorn TV.
Also on the Global Screen slate is season 4 of Mountain Murders (Watzmann Ermittelt), a 48-episode update to the German series. In season 4, Chief Inspector Benedikt Beissl, who has been running his police station in Berchtesgaden solo for years, is suddenly assigned a new colleague. Luckybird Pictures produces for ARD’s Das Erste.
Elsewhere, family entertainment live-action series Finest Fairytales (Sechs auf Einen Streich) is returning with two new titles, A Princess Betrayed and The Magic Flute. ARD Degeto is the broadcaster and producer.
MIP London is taking place this week at the Savoy Hotel and the adjoining IET London conference center on Savoy Place in the center of England’s capital city.
