📰 SOFT U.S. INFLATION DATA WON’T BE ENOUGH TO BOOST MARKET PRICING OF FED CUTS Soft U.S. CPI data won’t suffice to reignite expectations of a 50-basis-point interest-rate cut by the Federal Reserve, Marc Chandler, currency analyst at Bannockburn Global Forex, says in a note. “Given the pushback against Fed Chair Powell’s 50-basis-point cut last month revealed in the FOMC minutes, it will take more than a soft headline CPI today to renew speculation of another large move,” he says. The DXY dollar index trading flat at 102.91 ahead of the CPI data due at 1230 GMT

💎 FBI CREATES CRYPTOCURRENCY IN QUEST TO CATCH CRIMINALS The Federal Bureau of Investigation created a fake cryptocurrency and company as part of a government investigation that resulted in fraud charges against 18 companies and individuals. The charges, which were unsealed in Boston Wednesday, alleged that three crypto trading firms, along with their employees, engaged in wash trading and conspired to manipulate the prices of NexFundAI, a crypto token created by the FBI as part of its investigation into market manipulation in the crypto industry. A fourth firm and its employees are also charged for perpetrating a similar scheme.
