EXCLUSIVE: As Grey’s Anatomy fans are adjusting to the show without two longtime characters, Teddy (Kim Raver) and Owen (Kevin McKidd), who left in the Season 22 finale, a new doctor may fill the void — at least temporarily. James Wolk has been tapped for a recurring role on the upcoming 23rd season of the venerable ABC medical drama. He also is set to recur on the new AMC NASCAR series Thunder Road.
On Grey’s Anatomy, Wolk will play Seth Norton, a handsome, arrogant surgeon-turned-businessman whose focus on the bottom line never wavers. He owns Olympic Regent Health, a luxury care medical center where patients pay out of pocket for elevated care.
It is unclear what Grey Sloan doctors Seth will get entangled with.

Wolk is slated to appear in at least four episodes of Season 23, which premieres Oct. 15. Grey’s Anatomy is executive produced by series creator Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, showrunner Meg Marinis, director Debbie Allen, star Ellen Pompeo and Mark Gordon.
From John Fusco, Thunder Road is the multi-generational saga of the fictional Whitlock family, whose legacy in stock car racing is as deep as the family’s ties to the Southern hill country roots that shaped them.
Dennis Quaid leads the cast as racing legend Duane Whitlock, aka The Wrecking Ball, who has built a racing empire.
Wolk will play Jordan Brandt, the husband of Laney Whitlock (Maggie Grace) — the oldest and smartest of Duane’s children — and general counsel to her family’s legendary racing team. He’s the city’s idea of what success looks like, but his father-in-law Duane (Quaid) still sees him as an outsider who married his way into money. Wolk will appear in six of the first season’s eight episodes.
Chase Stokes, Michael Rooker, Matt Barr, West Duchovny and Jake Manley also star in Thunder Road, produced in association with NASCAR. Fusco executive produces alongside showrunner Taylor Elmore, Cliff Roberts via Syndicate Entertainment, Mark L. Smith, and NASCAR Studio’s Tim Clark and John Dahl.
Wolk currently recurs on FX’s Ryan Murphy drama The Shards and will next be seen in a recurring role on Prime Video’s The Boys prequel Vought Rising. His extensive TV resume includes Lone Star, Mad Men, Political Animals, Zoo, Watchmen, Tell Me a Story and Ordinary Joe. Wolk is repped by Gersh and Greenlight Management.
