Frontline, the PBS investigative documentary series produced at Boston’s GBH, is staffing up.
The series is expanding its newsroom with three new hires across documentary, digital video and audio.
Marjon Javadi joins as managing director of GBH’s longform non-fiction Documentary Unit. She previously spent six years at Disney, where she was VP, Original Documentary Film and Series, working on Disney+ projects including Jim Henson Idea Man.
She will work across Frontline, Nova and American Experience and will lead strategy and business partnerships for Frontline Features, its new arm to produce feature docs. That division has already produced 20 Days in Mariupol, For Sama and Abacus: Small Enough to Jail.
Nicki DeMarco joins as senior producer of digital and audience, focusing on expanding its social video reporting and building on its vertical video series For The Record. He previously co-led the launch of The Washington Post’s Creator Hub.

Joel Patterson has been named audio strategy director, focusing on the series’ original podcast, The Frontline Dispatch. He previously held roles at NPR affiliates WHYY and KPCC, APM’s Marketplace, and The Gist.
The trio will report to Raney Aronson‑Rath, the series’ editor-in-chief and executive producer.
“Marjon, Nicki and Joel each bring a unique perspective on how compelling journalism is created and experienced today,” said Aronson-Rath. “Their exceptional cross-platform work will deepen the impact of Frontline’s storytelling and reach people in new ways, and we’re so pleased to welcome them to our team.”
“Marjon’s leadership will be instrumental in shaping Frontline, Nova and American Experience’s business strategy, editorial partnerships and international growth. I’m excited to partner with her to create a robust, forward-looking vision for the Documentary Unit, and to tap into her background as we further build and expand our global brands in storytelling,” she added.
