Paramount And Mattel Ink Consumer Products Deal For ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’

Paramount and Mattel have signed a multi-year deal to develop a wide range of consumer products based on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The deal will start in 2027, during the run-up to the release of animated feature sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2. A new, untitled live-action/CG animation hybrid is due to follow in 2028.

The pact is the latest sign of improbable life for a franchise that traces its roots back to 1984. It is also one of the first signature moves by Josh Silverman, a veteran of Disney, Marvel and Mattel who was tapped last fall as president of global products and experiences at Paramount.

The companies plan to release action figures, playsets and accessories, vehicles, games, collectibles, role play and other offerings via multiple retailers.

Roberto Stanichi, EVP and Chief Global Brand Officer, Mattel said the partnership “marks a significant moment for Mattel and the brand. The enduring power of the Turtles lies in their ability to evolve with each generation, and we are excited to bring these characters to life in new ways.”

Silverman said expanding the reach of the property “is something we deeply value as we continue expanding the ways people can interact with and celebrate the world of these beloved brothers. We are pleased to embark on this next chapter with Mattel, whose ability to innovate on a global scale positions us to further grow the brand and engage fans across generations.”

Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird created Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as a comic book in 1984. In the decades since, it has racked up billions in revenue from TV series, films, live experiences, digital games, book titles and consumer products.
