Alexander Skarsgard ‘SNL’ Promo Proves That Size Matters In Studio 8H

Is everyone equal on the set of Saturday Night Live? Apparently not.

Alexander Skarsgard is making his SNL hosting debut this weekend — and not a moment too soon. The actor and his 6-foot-4 frame are called to duty in the first promo for Saturday’s episode. His height advantage over castmembers Veronika Slowikowska, Jeremy Culhane and Kam Patterson comes in handy when items need to be retrieved from precarious places on the Studio 8H set. Have a look below.

“Alexander Skarsgard has only been here a few days, but he’s already fitting right in,” Slowikowska says. Adds Culhane: “Alexander brings so much to the table. Like he can do things no one here can do.” Why? “He tall,” Patterson explains.

Slowikowska employs the rookie host to retrieve her pen that mysteriously has become perched atop a camera. (Done.) Then Culhane’s hat finds itself in a similar predicament. (Problem solved.) And Patterson’s football becomes lodged many feet above the floor. (Skarsgard to the rescue.)

Man, it sure is good to have a tall dude around for such emergencies, right? But wait — what about Ben Marshall, the similarly lofty SNL castmember? Couldn’t he help? Well, he shows up, just as Culhane is getting a rise on Skarsgard’s shoulders. “Guys,” he says, “I’m tall too. I can help you reach stuff.”

The reaction from his fellow sketchmeisters is decidedly south of frosty.

Skarsgard, who has a pair of pics screening at Sundance this month in The Moment opposite Charli XCX — which hits theaters Friday — and Wicker, starred in the Cannes hit Pillion and scored two Emmy noms for Succession. Cardi B is this week’s musical guest.
