SPOILER ALERT: Read no further if you have not watched the Season 4 finale of The Traitors on the BBC.
“Two traitors, but totally faithful to each other.”
Host Claudia Winkleman concluded the epic finale of The Traitors UK Season 4 by paying homage to the first double Traitor winners – Rachel and Stephen.
In a finale for the ages, the pair managed to find a way to eliminate faithfuls Jade, Faraaz and Jack before being the final two in the game. They are the first pair of traitors to win the UK version of the hit BBC show and win nearly £50,000 ($68,000) each.
The final episode began with five competing after faithful James exited the game in a chance banishment. From there, the group of five competed in a daring mission before facing off first around the roundtable, where Jade exited, and then at the firepit, where the final two rounds played out.
Watch on Deadline
The ratings will come out tomorrow morning for the finale of another barnstorming season of undoubtedly the most popular show on British TV. Millions will have flocked to tonight’s final and many more will watch over the coming days.
The Traitors sees the group enter a grand castle in Scotland, with a small number secretly selected to become the Traitors. The rest are Faithfuls, whose aim it is to find out the identities of the Traitors.
The entire group perform a daily task and then meet at a roundtable to discuss who they believe the Traitors are before banishing one player from the game. Later, the Traitors secretly meet each evening and murder another player from the game.
The aim for the Faithfuls is to end the game with no Traitors still alive. If even one Traitor is among the final contestants when the game comes to an end, they win the entire prize pot.
The current season of the parlor game format began broadcasting on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on January 1, and saw the introduction of a new twist: the Secret Traitor, who was unknown to both the other Traitors and the audience. There have also been secret relationships and other elements held back to heighten the tension in the 12-episode run.
The Studio Lambert series, based on the Dutch format Der Verraders, is in its fourth season. Late last year, the first British version involving celebrities became a massive ratings hit and the zeitgeist of the nation, with comedian and presenter Alan Carr winning as a Traitor.
