Copa América Docuseries Lands At Disney+

Last year, Lionel Messi helped Argentina retain its Copa América trophy and now Disney+ subscribers in Latin America can look back at the tournament in a new six-part docuseries.

Copa América 2024: El Legado is now available on the streaming service in the region on the one-year anniversary of the final in Miami.

The series follows the tournament held in the U.S., which saw Lautaro Martínez’s winner against Colombia help Argentina to its latest win.

It goes behind the scenes—into buses, hallways, locker rooms, and more restricted-access areas—to unveil never-before-seen moments featuring players, coaching staff, and the thousands of fans who traveled to support their teams in person.

Key moments include Ángel Di María’s final match with the Argentine team, Neymar’s absence from the Brazilian squad and his presence in the stands, James Rodríguez’s leadership of Colombia, and Luis Suárez’s farewell performance for Uruguay under coach Marcelo Bielsa.

The series also revisits highlights such as Costa Rica’s draw with Brazil, Uruguay’s performance against Brazil with ten players, Ecuador’s last-minute goal against Argentina, and James Rodríguez’s “resurrection” at age 33. It will also features portraits of Argentine icons like Martínez, Ángel Di María, and former player Javier Zanetti, who reflect on key tournament moments, including the dramatic triple substitution during the final.

Copa América 2024: El Legado is produced by Offline Sports, which was founded by Diego Piasek, who was previously SVP, Head of Development & Current Series, MGM International TV Productions, and Gonzalo Arias, and CONMEBOL, the South American soccer confederation.

“We are deeply grateful to CONMEBOL and the Copa Team for the trust and opportunity to lead such an ambitious project. Premiering it one year later on Disney+ is a very special way to bring this journey full circle,” said Gonzalo Arias and Diego Piasek, co-founders of Offline Sports.
