LA Lakers‘ Thursday home game against the Charlotte Hornets was one of the first major sports events in Los Angeles put on hold after major wildfires broke out across the city earlier this week. Now the team’s next home game, against the San Antonio Spurs, also has been postponed as the devastation from the fires continues. It was to take place Saturday, Jan. 10, at Crypto.com.
The NBA also announced Friday night the postponement of the Saturday game between the LA Clippers and the Hornets at Intuit Dome. The dates for the rescheduled games will be announced later.
The NBA notes that the postponements “ensure no resources will be diverted from the wildfire response efforts.”
The leagues and the National Basketball Players Association are donating $1 million for immediate relief to the American Red Cross, World Central Kitchen and other organizations to support those affected by the fires.
