Ahead of Meghan Markle‘s lifestyle show with Netflix making its expected debut this year, another project inspired by the Duchess of Sussex’s story is being created, by her tireless biographer Omid Scobie.
Following Deadline’s exclusive report back in July that Scobie’s book and TV project Royal Spin had been secured by Universal for series development, the Daily Mail newspaper reports that Scobie has decided to cash in his UK chips and make a permanent move to LA.
The paper quotes a source saying the royal author has told friends he plans to stay in the city for a minimum of three to five years.

Deadline previously reported that Scobie’s fictional debut is a fish-out-of-water workplace drama which follows an American press agent who leaves behind her high-octane career in D.C. for a communications job at Buckingham Palace.
The Mail quotes one insider calling the series “Emily in Paris crossed with The Crown.”
As well as his development deal, Scobie is a regular talking head on Good Morning America. He is the author of two books about Markle and Prince Harry, Finding Freedom (published 2020) and Endgame (published 2023).
Markle married Prince Harry in 2018. The couple were briefly based in London, until early 2020 when they announced they were to quit public royal life. They then moved first to Canada before settling in Los Angeles, where they secured deals with Spotify and Netflix.
