Walker Scobell’s Percy Jackson will get the chance to take on “The Sea of Monsters” just like Logan Lerman before him in the film version.
Disney+’s television series, based on Rick Riordan’s books, was renewed for a second season in February 2024.
Based on Riordan’s second book in the original “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” quintet, the second season of Disney’s “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” has already made some key casting announcements.

Is Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 in production?
Yes, the show has over a week of production under its belt as of D23, 2024. It shoots in Vancouver.
What is Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 about?
Season 2 of the book-based show will follow Rick Riordan’s The Sea of Monsters, in which Percy goes on a quest through the titular location to rescue Grover — who has gone on his own mission to search the sea for the god Pan — from the Cyclops that trapped Odysseus back in the day.
At D23 2024, Riordan, Scobell and costars Leah Sava Jeffires and Aryan Simhadri teased key scenes from the book that will likely make it into season 2 like Grover’s wedding dress, Percy and Annabeth’s romance and more.
Who is in the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2?
Daniel Diemer has joined the cast as Percy’s half-brother Tyson, a Cyclops. The two share a father in Poseidon (portrayed by Toby Stephens in season 1). Tamara Smart has been cast as Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus. Andra Day will portray Annabeth’s mother, the goddess Athena.
The Disney+ series has cast Courtney B. Vance as the god of skies and thunder, Zeus. Vance will take up the mantle from the late Lance Reddick, who died last year, shortly after the release of the first season.
At D23 2024, Disney also announced the casting of the Gray Sisters — three women that Percy and Annabeth meet in Chapter 3 of Riordan’s book: “We Hail the Taxi of Eternal Torment.” The trio will be portrayed by Sandra Bernhard (Anger), Kristen Schaal (Tempest) and Margaret Cho (Wasp). The sisters share one eye to operate their taxi company, and each has a different duty within the firm. Anger collects cab fare, Tempest reads the future of the taxi customers and Wasp drives.
Variety reported the casting of Veep alum Timothy Simons in the role of Tantalus, who takes over as interim director of Camp Half-Blood while Glynn Turman’s Chiron mysteriously disappears.
Besides the above-mentioned trio, Charlie Bushnell will return as Hermes’ son Luke, and Dior Goodjohn will reprise her role of Clarisse La Rue — daughter of Ares (Adam Copeland).
Hermes himself (Lin Manuel Miranda) “shows up early” in Season 2 according to the actor and musician, who told Deadline at the Mufasa: The Lion King red carpet that he had filmed his scenes.
After the passing of Lance Reddick, who portrayed Zeus in season 1, executive producer Jon Stein didn’t immediately jump to recast the role of the sky god. The season 1 finale honored Reddick after his passing in March 2023.
“I don’t think anybody’s there yet,” executive producer Jon Steinberg told reporters at the winter TCA 2024 of recasting the role ahead of Season 2. “There’s also just a little bit of denial, I think. That’s something that we’re gonna have to deal with. But we’re incredibly grateful for this character that he helped build and the presence that he created. I do not envy whoever has to step into his shoes.”
Is there a trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2?
Not yet. A tiny teaser of season 2 was released upon the start of production of the next installment at D23 2024.
