EXCLUSIVE: Musical microdrama is coming.
Playback, starring Hannah Stocking, America’s Next Top Model winner Sophie Sumner, Amber Laird, Royce Lundquist and Sarah Sampino, has released a trailer for the musical dropping April 17. The show comes from microdrama powerhouse Holywater Tech for its MyDrama platform and is produced by Second Rodeo.
The series follows Maddie Bryce (Laird), a struggling songwriter on the verge of being discovered, whose rising success is tied to a secret she can’t afford to reveal. As AI begins to reshape the music industry and blur the line between artist and creation, Maddie is pulled into a double life that forces her to confront identity, authenticity, and what it truly means to find her voice.
Stocking, a comedian and internet personality who has millions of followers across social platforms, stars as Samantha Stern, a magnetic, headline-making influencer and pop star who thrives at the center of attention.
She said Playback is “unlike anything I’ve ever done before.” Watch trailer below.
Produced by director Scott Brown’s indie Second Rodeo, which has already made The Diamond Rose for Holywater’s My Drama app, Playback is the latest splashy offering from Holywater.
Holywater is the Ukrainian microdrama behemoth that has a deal in place with Fox and recently landed a $22M capital funding investment.
