Salem is getting a new resident in Sofia Mattsson.
The former General Hospital actress will be jumping networks to NBC’s Days of our Lives, the soap announced in a joint post shared to Instagram.
“Sofia Mattsson is making her way to Salem early next year! 💙⏳,” noted the official series account in the caption of a photo featuring Mattsson posing outside her dressing room.
During the summer last year, Mattsson saw her arc as Sasha Gilmore Corbin, first introduced on the ABC sudser in 2018, close out. In the episode featuring her departure, Sasha and her baby Daisy exit Port Charles safely with the help of Steve Burton’s Jason Morgan, as she moves back in with her parents Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) and Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) in Paris, France. Before Jason docks back in the U.S., he reminds Sasha that she will “always have a home to come back to,” leaving the door open for potential reprisals of the character in the future.

At the time, a representative for GH told TVInsider it was a “good time in the storyline for Sofia to leave to pursue other opportunities in film and TV.”
Meanwhile, the actress — who has also logged episodes of NCIS and Two and a Half Men alongside over 500 installments of GH she’s been in — noted she is “definitely not opposed to coming back to the soap world,” teasing at the time that she had “some exciting new projects in the works, so I hope to see everyone through another screen soon!”
Mattsson is expected to make her first appearance on Days in 2027, though it is currently unclear who she will be portraying. She will join a formidable cast led by the inimitable Deidre Hall.
