Late-night veteran and four-time Oscar host Jimmy Kimmel accepted the President’s Award — a rare honor presented only on occasion of “extraordinary circumstances.” After Kimmel’s tumultuous 2025, it’s the first time the President’s Award has been bestowed since 2017 and just the fifth this century. The presentation came in a prerecorded message from Ben Affleck and Kimmel’s pseudo-nemesis Matt Damon — watch it here:

“Making movies is an extraordinary process, it doesn’t end when we wrap,” Hudson said onstage about the meaning of “showpersonship.” “We are also tasked with bringing that magic to audiences, and publicity is a huge part of that. I’m the showperson, and you’re the ‘ship.’”

Said Wyle in accepting: “I am so proud to have brought a television show with John [Wells] back to this city that I love. A 15-episode show that employs hundreds and hundreds of artisans and artists, and showcases their talents to the world. This town has weathered great changes before, and in fact that is what brought these guilds and unions into existence, the belief in the power of collective, the strength in our solidarity, and primacy of our creativity.”

During his speech, Kimmel called out his longtime publicist Lewis Kay, saying, “I’ve never caused him any problems at all.” He later added: “The reason I’m here is to thank you for 23 years of partnership and support. I would like to dedicate this to those of you who work so hard to shine a light on everyone other than yourselves.”

The annual awards celebrate Local 600 publicists, unit still photographers, outstanding 2026 publicity campaigns for TV and film and the year’s best entertainment journalists. Back in February 2025, the 62nd Publicists Awards honored the teams behind Wicked and All About Agatha with its marquee prizes.
