‘Brilliant Minds’ Sets Return Date For Remaining Season 2 Episodes; Adds Ed Begley Jr, Anne Archer, Mamie Gummer & Ana Ortiz In Guest Roles

We have a return date for the final six episodes of Brilliant Minds Season 2. The medical drama returns to the NBC schedule on Wednesday, May 27 at 8 pm, and will air in that timeslot going forward for the season’s final six episodes, the network announced Friday.

Additionally, Ed Begley Jr. (Better Call Saul), Anne Archer (The Dropout), Mamie Gummer (We Were Liars) and Ana Ortiz (Goosebumps) have joined the cast in guest roles, appearing throughout the remaining episodes.

Begly Jr. and Archer will appear in Episode #220. Begly Jr. will play Duke. A once-commanding patriarch, Duke struggles to hold onto the memories that defined him. But as they slip away, Wolf becomes determined to help him make amends with his estranged son before it’s too late. Archer will portray Bonnie, a kindhearted matriarch who must find a way to reconcile the future she dreamed of with the reality she faces.

Gummer will play Regan in Episode #217. Regan is a psychiatric patient whose harrowing episodes estrange her from everyone at Hudson Oaks…except for Wolf. After taking a keen interest in Regan, Wolf discovers there may be more to her case than meets the eye.

Ortiz will portray Alyssa Rivera in Episode #218. Fresh out of prison, Alyssa is determined to earn her way back into her old life, no matter the cost.

Brilliant Minds was pulled from its 10 pm Wednesday slot with six episodes remaining in early February as NBC shifted to wall-to-wall coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics. The network announced that The Voice: Battle of Champions would take over the 9-11 pm timeslot beginning with its season premiere on Feb. 23, with no return date for Brilliant Minds and much speculation that the series may be DOA.

Inspired by the life and work of author and physician Oliver Sacks, Brilliant Minds follows Dr. Oliver Wolf (Zachary Quinto), a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist, and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier – the human mind – while grappling with their own relationships and mental healt.
