‘Doc’ Renewed For Season 3 By Fox With Another 22-Episode Order

EXCLUSIVE: No sophomore slump for Fox‘s Doc. After scoring a rare 22-episode Season 2 order with its breakout freshman run last year, the medical drama has done it again, landing a 22-episode Season 3 pickup. Barbie Kligman and Hank Steinberg will continue as co-showrunners.

Doc, starring Molly Parker, was actually the first Fox scripted series to get a renewal nod for next season more than a month ago. Showrunner deal-making delayed the official pickup a bit, allowing two other Fox series, freshman Best Medicine and veteran comedy Animal Control, to leapfrog it with their early renewals. Per Deadline’s Fox Renewal Status Report published in early February, all three pickups were fully expected.

Season-to-date, Doc is averaging 7.4M multi-platform viewers, Fox’s largest multi-platform audience for a 2025-26 scripted series, which nearly triples (+192%) the drama’s Live+Same Day delivery. Speaking of L+SD performance, Doc recently hit a regular time period series high in total viewers (2.7M, 2/3/26).

Once a broadcast TV standard, the 22-episode full-season orders have largely disappeared for cost-saving reasons, especially for dramas. They are extremely rare nowadays outside of the Dick Wolf procedural factory.

Doc has become a true breakout for Fox, delivering our largest scripted multi-platform audience of the season and building remarkable momentum across Fox, Hulu, Netflix, and internationally — earning it another 22-episode order,” said Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network. “That success is a testament to the exceptional creative leadership of Hank Steinberg and Barbie Kligman, our terrific partners at Sony, and the talented Molly Parker, whose deeply nuanced performance gives the series its soul.”

Co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment Studios, Doc was developed for the U.S. by Kligman based on the Italian series Doc — Nelle tue mani. It has been sold in over 200 countries, including major markets across Europe, Latin America, and Asia Pacific, with global TV and content consultancy 3Vision estimating that Doc was one of 2025’s most widely distributed series despite not being on a global streaming platform.

The medical drama has been sold to global streaming platforms in individual territories. In a competitive situation, Netflix last fall took U.S. streaming rights to Doc; HBO Max carries the show in many Central and Eastern Europe markets. (In-season, Doc streams next day on Hulu as part of Fox’s deal with the Disney streamer.)

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Rob Wade, Michael Thorn, and their amazing teams at Fox,” said Katherine Pope, President of Sony Pictures Television Studios. “This milestone highlights Doc’s compelling storytelling and standout performances that have resonated with audiences globally. We’re incredibly proud of the exceptional writing from Hank and Barbie, and of Molly Parker’s powerful, nuanced performance at the center of the series. We look forward to building on the show’s continued success in the seasons ahead.”

Season 2, which is ongoing, is executive produced by co-showrunners Kligman and Steinberg as well as Erwin Stoff, Russell Fine, John Weber, Frank Siracusa, Carol Barbee and David Foster.

Inspired by a true story and based on the Italian format, Doc follows the hard-charging, brilliant physician Dr. Amy Larsen (Parker) as she rebuilds her life after a car crash erased eight years of her memory.

Omar Metwally, Amirah Vann, Jon Ecker, Anya Banerjee, Patrick Walker and Charlotte Fountain-Jardim also star, joined in Season 2 by Felicity Huffman. Scott Wolf has been recurring.

Elsewhere at Fox, renewals for dramas Memory of a Killer and Murder In a Small Town are also likely though the former has seen substantial linear ratings erosion following its impressive launch. Its streaming performance remains strong. Comedy Going Dutch continues to be on the bubble.
