The Last Thing He Told Me author Laura Dave has been vocal about how she listens to one song on repeat while writing a book.
For the novel that set the Apple TV show in motion, it was Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band’s “I Should Fall Behind,” and for sequel novel The First Time I Saw Him, it was Taylor Swift’s “cardigan.” The soundtrack of Season 1 included songs by Springsteen, Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, Lord Huron and more. The Rolling Stones and Radiohead make sonic cameos, and Emmylou Harris got two songs as a favorite artist of main character Hannah Hall (Jennifer Garner).
