‘Beef’ Season 2 Teaser: Lee Sung Jin’s Netflix Series Hits The Country Club With Tense New Marital Drama, New Ensemble Cast

Netflix is dishing out a second serving of A24‘s Beef, teasing a first look at the sophomore season of Lee Sung Jin‘s anthology.

On Thursday, the streamer debuted the teaser for Season 2 of the 3x Golden Globe-winning series, which sets a tense new marital drama at a country club with two new couples, portrayed by new cast members Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny.

In Season 2 of Beef, premiering April 16, a Gen-Z couple witnesses an alarming fight between their Millennial boss and his wife. Newly-engaged Ashley Miller (Spaeny) and Austin Davis (Melton), both lower-level staff at a country club, become entangled in the unraveling marriage of their general manager, Joshua Martín (Isaac), and his wife, Lindsay Crane-Martín (Mulligan).

Through favors and coercion, both couples vie for the approval of the elitist club’s Korean billionaire owner, Chairwoman Park (Youn Yuh-hung), who struggles to manage her own scandal involving her second husband, Doctor Kim (Song Kang-ho).

In November, Spaeny told Deadline that Season 2 of Beef is just “as batsh*t as the first one,” adding, “What’s fun about this one, is that it’s beef between couples and different generations.”

Inspired by Lee’s personal experience with a road rage incident, Season 1 starred Steven Yeun and Ali Wong as two strangers whose lives collide in a strange way after they’re involved in a traffic incident of their own. The debut season was a critical success, earning four Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, and three Golden Globes, including Best Limited or Anthology Series or Television Film.
