Peter Krause (Six Feet Under, 9-1-1) has joined the ensemble cast of the NBC drama pilot Protection, from creator, writer and executive producer Josh Safran (Quantico, Gossip Girl).
The project heralds Krause’s return to NBC, the network that aired the hit series Parenthood, in which he starred as Adam Braverman across the show’s six seasons (2010-2015).
In Protection, when a U.S. Marshal falls in the line of duty, a seemingly cut-and-dry case turns into a deadly conspiracy as a family of law enforcement agents becomes the target of a mysterious assassin. Bridging personal differences and crossing professional boundaries, the Thornhill family must use the expertise from a lifetime of protecting civilians and politicians to protect one another and bring the killer to justice … even if it means betraying their sworn code.
In a series regular role, Krause will play Mike Thornhill.

Safran executive produces with Jenna Bush Hager and her executive Ben Spector. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio. The project falls under the first-look deal Bush Hager has with Universal Studio Group for her Thousand Voices production company.
Krause is coming off 8 seasons of the Fox/ABC series 9-1-1, where he starred as Robert “Bobby” Nash. Fans of the long-running procedural following the lives of emergency responders in Los Angeles were left heartbroken after Krause’s storyline concluded, but now they have something to look forward to should the pilot receive a series order.
Krause is best known for his work on the acclaimed HBO drama series Six Feet Under, for which he was nominated for three Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. He is also recognized for his role in NBC’s Parenthood, the beloved family dramedy loosely based on the film of the same name. Krause made his TV debut on Carol Burnett’s hit variety show, Carol and Company, followed by a recurring role on Cybill. Additional small screen credits include The Catch, Dirty Sexy Money, Sports Night, and the cable miniseries The Lost Room. He is repped by CAA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
