On the TV side, Netflix’s Adolescence won Best Drama Series, and HBO Max’s The Studio took the Comedy Series prize.
Meanwhile, the Philippou Brothers’ horror show Bring Her Back carved up the movie competition at the Aussie-specific AACTA Awards, slicing off 10 wins among the 15 total categories including Best Film, Best Lead Actress in Film for Sally Hawkins and Best Direction. The pic from A24 and Sony came in with a leading 16 nominations.
The Correspondent was next with three AACTA wins, including Richard Roxburgh for Best Actor, and Lesbian Space Princess with two was the only other multiple winner on the film side. See the full list below.
Prime Video’s WWII-set drama series The Narrow Road to the Deep North attacked the TV field with nine wins including Best Actor for Jacob Elordi, Best Direction and many of the crafts categories. That was more than double the four wins for runner-up The Newsreader, but that AMC+ series took Best Drama, along with with Best Actress for Anna Torv and Best Screenplay.
AACTA’s 2026 individual honors went to Sarah Snook (Trailblazer Award), Bruce Beresford (Longford Lyell Award), Kristina Ceyton and Samantha Jennings (Byron Kennedy Award), Kate Armon and Craig Smith (Reg Grundy Award) and Clare Hughes (Brian Walsh Award).
“This year’s AACTA Awards recognize the remarkable depth and diversity of Australian screen talent,” AACTA CEO Damian Trewhella said. “From critically acclaimed productions to audience favorites, the winners showcase the strength of our industry and the stories that continue to resonate locally and globally.”
