Following the second fatal ICE shooting of a Minneapolis resident, Michael Che took aim at the government agency on ‘Weekend Update‘.
The Saturday Night Live star slammed ICE agents as inhuman following Saturday’s killing of 37-year old ICU nurse Alex Pretti, which the Department of Homeland Security claimed was necessary force, despite contradicting bystander videos.
“I get that ICE agents are people, allegedly,” Che jabbed on this weekend’s episode. “And they have a job to do. But at some point while you’re pepper-spraying old ladies or shooting at a nurse, you ever stop and ask yourself, ‘Are we d—s?’”
Previously in the segment, Che called out Vice President JD Vance’s response to the killing.

“JD Vance criticized protesters confronting ICE officers, saying they should instead write an op-ed or argue about it on social media,” said Che, before displaying a photo of the Jan. 6 insurrection. “You know, just like these young scholars did on January 6th.”
The man killed on Saturday was identified as Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a US citizen and an ICU nurse at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
As was the case with the fatal shooting of Renee Good earlier this month, bystander video quickly emerged on social media, pitting the images up against the version of events relayed by the Department of Homeland Security. The eyewitness videos quickly raised doubts by Minnesota officials, legal analysts and some gun rights advocates over the Trump administration’s claims.
At an earlier press conference, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz called on Donald Trump to remove the federal presence of ICE and border patrol officers from the state.
