Dan Korn Exiting Hearst Networks Role After A Decade

True crime supremo Dan Korn is leaving his Hearst Networks commissioning role after a decade.

Korn has commissioned thousands of hours of factual shows for Sky History and Crime+Investigation during hist tenure as Vice President of Programming. He will remain with Hearst in a creative capacity but step down from his current role in March. Diana Carter, who is currently Commissioning Editor and Head of Talent at Hearst, will be promoted as Director of Originals and Talent to cover Korn’s area.

In his role, Korn has overseen factual commissioning for the two Hearst channels.

Credits include Royal Bastards: Rise of the Tudors and Royal Kill List, Bradley Walsh: Egypt’s Cosmic Code, Ross Kemp: The Mafia and Britain and Kursk: 10 Days That Shaped Putin, along with dozens more shows.

He has won numerous awards as he helped shape the network’s factual TV strategy. He has also innovated in the finance game, working closely with show financiers like Motion Content Group and Krempelwood to get shows on screen.

Heather Jones, Chief Creative Officer EMEA and GM UK at Hearst, said Korn had “transformed the quality, originality and ambition of our UK commissions and contributed enormously to the company’s growth.”

“It is with immense sadness that we say goodbye to Dan after such an incredible run at Hearst Networks,” she added.

Jones said “our commitment to investing in original content remains unchanged.”

Korn added: “After ten thoroughly enjoyable and creatively nourishing years at Hearst Networks, I feel immensely proud of what we have achieved together and excited to continue the collaboration with Hearst Networks, developing projects and new talent-based initiatives I’m passionate about through a new production commitment.”
