Despite his current MCU ties, Simu Liu has some ideas for James Gunn‘s DCU after going toe-to-toe with Melissa Barrera.
The Copenhagen Test actor recently praised his co-star’s onscreen combat skills, which he called “Wonder Woman-esque” and went so far as to shoutout the DC Studios boss with the fantasy casting.
“She really pushes herself,” he told JoBlo of Barrera. “I don’t know who might be listening to this interview, James Gunn or anybody else out there. But I think she really pushes herself. There were a couple of moments during stunt training where I was like, ‘That’s Wonder Woman-esque.’ I’m just throwing it out there.”

In July, Gunn gave an update that his team is “not casting WW, nor even discussing it, until a script is finished,” adding: “It’s a priority but I wouldn’t call that fast-tracked. Nothing is going to be shot unless we’re as sure as we can be that the script is good.”
While discussing their Peacock spy thriller series with Deadline, Liu called his co-star “a spectacular action star in the making,” recalling their fight scene from the show.
“After the whole season and after all the training that she had been through, Melissa was looking really sharp as a fighter, and so, she came to set and she was just ready to come to blows,” said Liu. “And it was really fun just to get to play that with her, and I’m really proud of what we did too. I’m really proud of her. She did a lot, most, if not all of her own stunts, and she’s just the best.”
Now available to stream on Peacock, The Copenhagen Test stars Liu as intelligence agent Alexander Hale, whose mind is hacked by a mysterious enemy using the intel to bring down his agency.
