Mike White is putting together the cast for the upcoming fourth season of HBO‘s The White Lotus, with Alexander Ludwig (Earth Abides, Vikings) and AJ Michalka (The Goldbergs, Super 8) leading the charge.
The duo is the first two confirmed to star in the France-set season of the Emmy Award-winning series. However, Deadline previously revealed exclusively that Helena Bonham Carter has been in early talks for a starring role.
Details regarding the plot of the season and character descriptions are under wraps. All HBO has confirmed is that Season 4 will follow a new group of White Lotus hotel guests and employees over the span of a week.

As we previously reported, production could start in the spring, although where in the European country is still a mystery. Four Season Resorts have been used in prior seasons as stand-ins for the fictional White Lotus resort. France has options on that front, including the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat and Paris’ Hotel George V. HBO currently does not have a marketing agreement with the Four Seasons for Season 4.
Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, confirmed last month that casting had begun for the next installment of the HBO murder mystery anthology series created by White.
White is known for bringing together a cast of established and upcoming talent across the show’s highly lauded first three seasons. Season 3 was set in Thailand and starred Walton Goggins, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Sam Rockwell, Natasha Rothwell, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Aimee Lou Wood, Sam Nivola and Patrick Schwarzenegger. The show received 23 Emmy nominations for its third season, including eight acting nominations. Across the show’s run, they’ve been nominated for 66 Emmy Awards with 16 wins.
Season 4 is created, written, and directed by Mike White. Executive producers include White, David Bernad, and Mark Kamine.
