The Jim Henson Company, in partnership with Julien’s Auctions, successfully concluded its landmark event on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, netting a massive $2.6 million in total sales. The collection—the first of its kind—offered fans a chance to own a piece of cinematic history from the celebrated American entertainment company.
Up for auction were original pieces from Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Labyrinth, multiple Muppet productions, Jim Henson’s wardrobe and personal items, and more in celebration of the American entertainment company’s storied seven-decade legacy.
The marquee item of the auction was none other than the grand full-size Crystal of Truth seen in the popular prequel series: The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. The translucent crystal purple prop that served as the heart and source of all life sold for $89,600, well over its original estimate of $20,000.
Bidding for puppets sold for several times their original estimates. Full-size puppets from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance were particularly popular; a Generic Stonewood #1 Gelfling puppet soared to $51,200 (over five times its $10,000 estimate), and a “Sleepy” Podling puppet fetched $22,400. The beloved characters of Fraggle Rock also saw high sales, with Uncle Travelling Matt and Gillis Fraggle both bringing in $64,000. Even smaller items from the Muppet universe inspired competitive bidding, such as Miss Piggy’s iconic lavender heels from The Great Muppet Caper, which sold for $22,400, well over their $7,000 estimate.
Items directly tied to Jim Henson’s personal life and career also saw strong results. Three silkscreen prints created by Henson in the late 1950s sold for $38,400, nearly 13 times their estimate, and a prop pocket watch from the production of Labyrinth that Henson kept as a personal memento realized $19,200.
“Julien’s Auctions was honored to present this historic auction celebrating Jim Henson’s visionary genius and his company’s 70th anniversary, thanks to the trust of the Jim Henson Company. From the moment we announced this auction, we received an unprecedented number of bidders and interest even before unveiling the full collection,” said Catherine Williamson, Managing Director of Entertainment, Julien’s Auctions.
“Thousands of Jim Henson’s most ardent fans and followers from all over the world participated which culminated in the auction’s outstanding results demonstrating the world’s enduring love for Jim Henson, whose indelible characters and creations forever hold a special place in our hearts.”
Proceeds from the auction will support the work of The Jim Henson Company’s Archives, helping to preserve this important collection for future generations.

Image Credit: Julien’s Auctions The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance | Generic Stonewood #1 Gelfling Full-Body Puppet.
A Stonewood Gelfling puppet from the prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (Netflix, 2019). This is a background puppet seen in multiple scenes and episodes throughout the series. Puppet sculpted by Toby Froud. The puppet’s head is made of sculpted and hand-painted foam latex with wig hair punched into it. Its costume is dualsuede tunic with quilted wool, cotton-backed mantle and gauntlets, a wool-fabric belt with leather strap piping, cottonlinen stockings, and leather boots. The tassels that hang from the arms of the garment are lovingly referred to internally as “Froud Shrouds,” in reference to The Dark Crystal’s original designer, Brian Froud, and fabricator, Wendy Froud.
During the filming of the original film, the Frouds added tassels to hang from the sleeves of the Gelfling puppets to help hide the puppeteering rods for the arms. Despite having the technology in place to digitally remove rods for the prequel series, the Frouds insisted that the tassels remain on the arms of the Gelflings because the style had already been established.
