MGM+ is going through some changes abroad.
Michael Wright has become global head of MGM+, overseeing both U.S. and international operations. It comes as Josh McIvor, who was global general manager of the streamer, is exiting.
McIvor, who was promoted to that role in 2023, joined Amazon in 2013 and previously led Prime Video’s international expansion strategy, focusing on local content in South-East Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
In a memo seen by Deadline, McIvor said that he was going to “take a break and spend more time being a parent” and “pursuing some interests that don’t stream”.

As such, Wright, who joined the company in 2017, will oversee all operations and bring its U.S. and international programming and marketing teams together.
It comes as MGM+ came under Jay Marine after he was promoted in August. Wright now reports to Ryan Pirozzi, Head of Channels for Prime Video.
Wright has also laid out his team. Adrian Montfalcon will serve as Global GM, overseeing strategy and planning, research and insights, third-party partnerships. Rahul Menon, Adeline Lassince, Lena Hu, Maria-Evengelica Telfort, and Alex Mason will report to Montfalcon, who report to Wright.
Kelly Hughes will expand her current role to lead its combined U.S. and international marketing teams as the global head of marketing. BJ Smith, Andy Chilcott and Tamara Pinn will report to Kelly, who reports to Wright.
Michael Katzer will continue as Head of International, and will now oversee global content acquisitions and programming. Rob Kotick, Eduardo Mendes de Oliveira, Stephanie Dowling, Hannah Perks and Kelly Pang report to Katzer.
On the original programming front, Alec Strum and Jill Burkhart will continue to oversee scripted and unscripted development, reporting to Wright.
“Our vision is simple: to unite MGM+ globally, combining the U.S. and international operations into one cohesive business with a unified purpose. We are a small but mighty team, known for our ability to be nimble and focused. Our greatest asset is our talented team, and I’m confident that this unified approach will make us even stronger and more collaborative,” said Wright in a memo seen by Deadline. “Under Amazon’s umbrella, we are well-positioned to evolve MGM+ into what we’ve always envisioned – a premier service offering the best movies and original series, inspired by the classic and iconic MGM brand, serving a large and loyal audience.”
