According to sources, Hulu bought Destination Wedding preemptively, keeping the high-profile project in-house after Nobody Wants This ended up at Netflix.
Erin Foster is the creator, writer and executive producer of the Netflix/20th TV comedy starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, which earned a quick Season 2 renewal after becoming a ratings and pop culture hit overnight, with Season 1 generating almost 50M views during its six-week stay in Netflix’s Weekly Top 10, including two at #1. It also earned Emmy nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series and Lead Actor/Actress for Bell and Brody.
Released on Oct. 23, Season 2 shot to #1 on Netflix’s Daily Top 10 right away, with first official viewership data expected tomorrow.
Erin Foster started her writing career on Ryan Murphy’s NBC/20th TV comedy The New Normal. She created Nobody Wants This inspired by her own life, drawing in part on her and Sara’s experience hosting their weekly The World’s First Podcast. The duo previously created and wrote the mockumentary-style Barely Famous reality show sendup. The Fosters, who also co-founded the clothing line Favorite Daughter and have raised a venture fund, Oversubscribed Ventures, are repped by 3 Arts, WME and Hansen Jacobson.
Under his overall deal (formerly at ABC Signature before the studio was absorbed by 20th TV), Countee co-created with Alec Berg the comedy Downforce, which went to pilot at Hulu starring Eve Hewson and Murray Bartlett. He previously served as co-executive producer on Season 2 of Apple TV+’s Severance. Countee’s writing/producing credits also include HBO’s Silicon Valley and Vice Principals, Fox’s The Mindy Project and NBC’s Community. He is repped by 3 Arts, UTA and Hansen Jacobson.
