‘M3GAN 2.0’ Gets Streaming Date On Peacock

Both M3GAN 2.0 and M3GAN 2.0 (Unrated) will begin streaming September 26 on Peacock.

Allison Williams and Violet McGraw star in the AI thriller, along with Ivanna Sakhno and Jemaine Clement, from producer James Wan (Atomic Monster), Jason Blum (Blumhouse) and director Gerard Johnstone.

Set two years after the little robot lady went on a murderous rampage and was subsequently destroyed, M3GAN’s creator Gemma (Williams) has become a high-profile author and advocate for government oversight of AI. Meanwhile, Gemma’s niece Cady (McGraw) is now 14, a rebellious teenager living under Gemma’s overprotective rules.

Unbeknownst to them, the underlying tech for M3GAN has been stolen and misused by a powerful defense contractor to create a military-grade weapon known as Amelia (Sakhno), the ultimate killer infiltration spy. But as Amelia’s self-awareness increases, she becomes decidedly less interested in taking orders from humans. Or in keeping them around.

Johnstone directed and penned the screenplay based on characters created by Akela Cooper & James Wan. Judson Scott, Mark David Katchur, Michael Clear, Adam Hendricks, Greg Gilreath and Johnstone executive produced. Pic is produced by Blum, Wan (p.g.a.) and Williams (p.g.a.)

The sequel was trending high on tracking ahead of the opening, but was a massive disappointment at the box office, grossing only $39 million worldwide.
