Comic-Con fans attending the Hall H panel for Prime Video‘s Gen V on Friday got a treat when a sneak peek at Season 5 of flagship series The Boys was shown in the room.
The reaction from the crowd reverberated outside the doors of the cavernous room as the footage appeared, marking the first look at the fifth and final season of Eric Kripke’s singular superhero series.
The footage included a look at Homelander (Antony Starr), now the de facto leader of America, standing in a crowded room proclaiming the country under his control will be a “safer, God-fearing nation.”
There was a very quick look at Jared Padalecki (met with whoops and cheers), who is boarding the final season in a reunion with Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles aka Soldier Boy. Misha Collins is expected to make an appearance as well, though we didn’t get a glimpse of him in the footage.

The short sizzle reel also included a lot of Boys-esqe blood, gore and fighting mixed in for good measure and ended on a close-up shot of Colby Minifie’s Ashley Barrett, who is shown smiling and smirking but whose face slowly morphs into something different, a kind of “what the hell did I just do?” kinda look. What she was looking at wasn’t revealed.

The Gen V team teased during the panel, and in a Season 2 trailer shown in-room, that there will be a much bigger crossover between the spinoff and The Boys Season 5 than before, one with major implications as The Boys wraps its storyline. No release date yet for The Boys, which is planned to premiere in 2026.
There’s plenty more in the Boys Universe, however. In addition to the college-based Gen V, Prime Video has the animated spinoff The Boys Presents: Diabolical and the upcoming ‘50s-set prequel spinoff Vought Rising. Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal are executive producing The Boys: Mexico, from Blue Beetle writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.
Gen V‘s Season 2 has a September 17 premiere date on Prime Video.
