EXCLUSIVE: Nautilus shored up a promising debut across AMC and AMC+.
The adventure drama premiered on June 29, attracting 2.6M viewers on linear alone, per Nielsen live+3 data. It was the network’s biggest premiere night audience since The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live premiered just over one year ago.
On streaming, Nautilus is pacing as a top new series in both viewership and acquisition, the company tells Deadline.
The series, inspired by Jules Verne’s beloved Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, follows Shazad Latif as Captain Nemo, an Indian Prince robbed of his birthright and family, a prisoner of the East India Mercantile Company and a man bent on revenge against the forces that have taken everything from him.

Nemo’s mission is to enact revenge on the East India Mercantile Company, who took everything from him. To do so, Nemo audaciously steals a prototype submarine from the penal colony in which he is imprisoned, escaping into the ocean with a motley crew of fellow prisoners. He plans to reach the fabled Viking treasure buried at the Pillars of Halvar. But first, he must win the trust of his crew and keep out of the clutches of the ruthless East India Mercantile Company, who will do whatever it takes to stop him.
The series also stars Georgia Flood as Humility Lucas, Céline Menville as Loti and Thierry Fremont as Benoit, with guest appearances from Richard E. Grant, Anna Torv and Noah Taylor.
Developed and produced by Moonriver TV’s Xavier Marchand and Seven Stories’ Anand Tucker, Nautilus is written and executive produced by James Dormer. EPs also include Johanna Devereaux, Chris Loveall, Colleen Woodcock and Daisy Gilbert.
New episodes of Nautilus premiere weekly on Sundays until two-episode season finale on August 17.
