Gaspard de Chavagnac, the co-founder and CEO of Asacha Media Group, is stepping down following Fremantle’s acquisition of Asacha.
The French executive has stepped down as CEO to focus on new media investment projects but will remain a shareholder of Asacha-owned Mintee Productions, which he founded in 2017.
Asacha launched in 2020 and owns eight labels including Death in Paradise indie Red Planet Pictures, Les Misérables producer Srab Films and Arrow Media. It also owns Wag in the UK, Italy’s Stand by Me and Picomedia, and Kabo Family in France.
De Chavagnac said: “I am very proud that, in just four years, my partners and I have built the third largest independent player in the European film and audiovisual production market. The development of Asacha Media Group has been a tremendous human, creative and industrial adventure, and an immense entrepreneurial success.”

Andrea Scrosati, Fremantle’s Group Chief Operating Officer and CEO Continental Europe, said he would “like to personally thank Gaspard for his visionary leadership and the pivotal role he has played in both creating Asacha Media Group and successfully leading its integration into the wider Fremantle business.”
“We wish him continued success in his next chapter,” he added.
Scrosati went on to say that the individual Asacha labels “have all complemented our wider portfolio of labels, while maintaining full editorial independence, and the results being delivered by their talented teams perfectly underline the numerous benefits of Fremantle’s global reach and expertise.”
Fremantle bought Asacha last year for €200M ($216M), a figure that included its purchase of 80% of Singapore’s Beach House Pictures. Marina Williams, who founded Asacha with de Chavagnac in 2020, appears to have remained at Asacha as Chief Content Officer.
