‘Tucci In Italy’ Renewed For Season 2 At Nat Geo

EXCLUSIVE: Stanley Tucci is heading back to Italy after Nat Geo renewed his docuseries Tucci In Italy for a second season.

The series, which premiered last month, has been picked up for another five episodes.

In the first season, Tucci explored regions including Tuscany, Lombardy, Abruzzo, Trentino-Alto Adige and Lazio. In the second season he will venture for the first time to Le Marche, while revisiting Sicily, Veneto, Campania and Sardinia.

He will meet local chefs, historians, farmers, winemakers, and artisans to uncover the lesser-known culinary rituals that define each region.

Tucci is evidently game for an unusual meal, having eaten tripe, lard and salad served in a vase in Season 1.

Last month, Tucci In Italy won at the Critics Choice Real TV Awards for Best Limited Series, beating series including Nat Geo’s Cult Massacre: One Day in Jonestown and Erased: WW2’s Heroes of Color, Netflix’s Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer and Simone Biles Rising and MGM+’s The Wonderland Massacre & The Secret History of Hollywood.

The series is produced by Salt Productions, which was founded by Tucci and Lottie Birmingham in 2023, and BBC Studios. Tucci and Birmingham exec produce alongside BBCS’ Amanda Lyon, with Ben Jessop as co-executive producer.

Tucci in Italy was initially handed a 10-episode order when it was commissioned by the Disney-owned factual broadcaster, but that turned into five episodes during production with another five set for Season 2.

Tucci is no stranger to visiting Italy, having hosted CNN’s Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy, which won two Emmys for Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special over two seasons.
