Nothing gets past the Swifties, and The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss is clearing up rumors that Taylor Swift had a secret cameo during the show’s final season.
On the penultimate episode of the Hulu drama, a member of the Mayday rebellion gets out of a vehicle that will transport the women to safety. Although the face of the person is not visible, and viewers only see a silhouette, but this was enough to get the Swifties in action and theorize that this was Swift.
In a new interview, Moss was asked about Swift’s alleged secret cameo and cleared up the rumors.
“God, I love them,” Moss told our sister site TVLine about the theories that Swift appeared on Episode 9.

After the reporter explained the scene to Moss, the star said, “That’s amazing! Of course it’s not [Swift]. Of course it’s not her. Oh my God, that’s hilarious. I love that idea, though.”
Swift’s song “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)” opened the episode, which only added to the speculation that the singer-songwriter appeared on the show. Adding to the clues, the Swifties noted that Moss and co-star Bradley Whitford attended Swift’s show in Toronto, where the Hulu series was filmed.
“I’m afraid that’s not Taylor,” Moss added. “She’s pretty busy. I feel like if she was going to come do our show, we would’ve made sure we saw her face.”
Moss said that a lot of them went to Swift’s show in Toronto in November, which she says “is partially why Taylor was very top of mind for me.” The Mad Men alum said that during filming of Season 4, the Reputation album had come out and the cast was “obsessed” with it on set.
“It’s been a long mutual love affair between her and a lot of our cast,” Moss said. “I mean, Josh Charles was in her music video… [Using her music] was something that, as you probably know, I’ve wanted to do, well, from the beginning. [Laughs] I was going to say, ‘Since I’ve been a director,’ but from the beginning! I’m so glad that we didn’t do it before and waited until now. Now that we have it, I’m so glad it happened the way that it did.”
