The first teaser trailer for Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty has arrived, and hardcore fans of the show will be happy to hear that two Taylor Swift songs are featured in the clip.
First, a happy and joyful montage of Lola Tung‘s main character Isabel “Belly” Conklin and Gavin Casalegno’s Jeremiah Fisher doing cute couple things at Finch University like a three-legged race and messing around in the dining hall to date moments like a movie night on a pool floatie at the Cousins Beach house unfolds to “Daylight,” the last song off Swift’s Lover album.
Just as the lyrics of the song “I once believed love would be burnin’ red, but it’s golden,” play, alluding to Swift’s former discography in both song “Red” and album Red, who should barge into the house in the winter with a candy cane, but Belly’s old flame Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney). It’s when Belly opens the door to see him that the backing track changes to the singular chorus of Swift’s “Red” song, “Loving him was red.”
It looks like she may have been making s’mores, and there’s definitely a trace of hot chocolate around her mouth, calling back to Season 2’s much-anticipated cocoa scene that she shared with the older brother (Conrad).

The use of these two songs plays into the easter eggs author and showrunner Jenny Han may be laying out. Earlier this year, a poster of Tung in a butter yellow dress standing in front of a hydrangea bush was released. Fans commented on the solo nature of the poster as it only featured Belly and neither Fisher brother. The color could correlate to the “golden” aspect of “Daylight.” In the beginning of the clip, Conrad also wears a sunshine yellow sweatshirt as he runs to give Belly a hug.
The newest poster features both brothers, one on each side of Belly, with Jeremiah kissing her cheek to her left, and Conrad glaring at him out of jealousy on her right. In this poster, Belly wears red, and the flowers behind the trio are red. Coincidence with the two song choices? Probably not. Only time will tell which brother — if either of them — ends up with Belly. Viewers will begin to find out when the 11-episode third and final season of the television adaptation of Han’s best-selling trilogy starts streaming on Prime Video July 16.
At the end of her junior year of college, Belly is excited to spend another summer in Cousins with Jeremiah, but when her first love Conrad comes back into her life and makes her question her future, Belly has to make the ultimate choice of which brother to give her heart.
Season Three of The Summer I Turned Pretty is led by showrunners Jenny Han and Sarah Kucserka. Han, Kucserka, and Karen Rosenfelt serve as executive producers, along with Paul Lee, Hope Hartman, and Mads Hansen for wiip. The series is a co-production of Amazon Studios and wiip.
