‘Ransom Canyon’ Cast And Characters: Who’s Who In The Western Drama Show?

Based on the book of the same by Jodi Thomas and set to gallup onto the small screen April 17, Netflix’s 10-episode Western drama Ransom Canyon contains quite the ensemble cast.

Led by Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, the show braids together the lives of three powerful ranching dynasties in the small Texas town, combined with several generations of love stories.

Josh Duhamel as Staten Kirkland

Staten Kirkland is a stoic rancher who runs one of the last major ranches in Ransom Canyon, Texas. Staten can’t always clearly communicate, and compounding loss has made that even more difficult for him, and he also isn’t sure what to do about his feelings for Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly).

Josh Duhamel is most well-known for portraying Alex in the film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ novel of the same name Safe Haven (2013) alongside Julianne Hough. He is also well-known for playing Captain Lennox and later Colonel Lennox in Transformers (2007) and Transformers: The Last Knight (2017) respectively. Recent roles for the actor include Tommy Ward in London Calling (2024) and Tom Fowler in Prime Video’s Shotgun Wedding (2024) in which he starred alongside Jennifer Lopez. He also played Coach Cole in The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers with Lauren Graham.

Tatanka Means as Jake Longbow

Jake Longbow is Staten Kirkland’s ranch manager, and that’s a big job given the size of the property.

Tatanka Means starred as John Wren in Killers of the Flower Moon (2023) and as Taklishim in Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1. He also appears in The Son and Saints & Strangers, and he played Najee in Opus starring Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich.
Marianly Tejada As Ellie Estevez

Ellie Estevez is a close family friend of Cap Fuller’s and Quinn’s righthand woman when it comes to managing the dance hall.

Marianly Tejada is known for playing Bronwyn Rojas in One of Us Is Lying, Sofia Carmona in The Purge TV show, Elena in Orange Is the New Black and Patricia in Who’s the Boss? (2013).
James Brolin as Cap Fuller

Cap Fuller is a retired Army Captain and also one of the big three ranchers in Ransom Canyon. His gruff exterior conceals a soft spot for some, like Ellie Estevez.

James Brolin, father of Josh Brolin, is known for many a film including Westworld (1973), Captricorn One (1977), The Amityville Horror (1979) and Traffic (2000) to name just a few. More recently, he voiced Zurg in Lightyear (2022) and narrated the Netfilx series Sweet Tooth.
Eoin Macken as Davis Collins

Davis Collins is the third big rancher of the Ransom Canyon trifecta. He manages Bar W, but from more of a business angle.

Macken plays Doc in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016), Rob in The Forest (2016) and Mark in Till Death (2021). He also stars as Gavin Harris in La Brea.
Lizzy Greene as Lauren Brigman

Lauren Brigman is head cheerleader at Ransom Canyon high school, but she has big dreams to get out of the small Texas town. Even though she’s Reid Collins’ girlfriend, there’s something happening between her and Lucas Russell (Garrett Wareing).

Greene is known for playing Sophie Dixon in A Million Little Things, Dawn in Nicky, Ricky Dicky & Dawn and Young Nicole in Damaged Goods (2014).
Philip Winchester as Sheriff Dan Brigman

Sheriff Dan Brigman lays down the law in Ransom Canyon. His daughter is cheerleader Lauren Brigman.

Philip Winchester is known for playing Sgt. Michael Stonebridge in Strike Back, Alex Kane in The Player, ADA Peter Stone in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and ASA Peter Stone in Chicago Justice.
Andrew Liner as Reid Collins and Garrett Wareing as Lucas Russell

Lucas Russell (Garrett Wareing)

Lucas Russell is also a high school student. It’s just him and his older brother Kit (Casey W. Johnson) living in a trailer in Ransom Canyon. Lucas is in high school, but he works at the Double K ranch too, and he has a thing for Lauren Brigman. He is also academically sought after by colleges.

Garrett Wareing is known for playing TJ Morrison in Manifest and Wood in God Is a Bullet (2023). More recently, he portrayed Julian in Dead Sea (2024) and he will soon appear in The Long Walk directed by Francis Lawrence and based on the book by Stephen King this fall.

Reid Collins (Andrew Liner)

Reid is Davis Collins’ son and star quarterback for the Ransom Canyon High School football team.

Andrew Liner is known for playing Mason Ashford in Vampire Academy, Justin in Bang Bang (2024), Isaiah in Gray Matter and an Actor in Please Don’t Feed the Children (2024).
Meta Golding as Paula Jo

Meta Golding will portray Davis Collins’ ex-wife Paula Jo, a force to be reckoned with.

Golding portrayed Hailey Winton in Rabbit Hole, Teri in Empire, Rosa in Behind the Movement (2018) and Enobaria, a District 2 Career tribute and former victor, in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013) which involved Katniss and Peeta’s second Hunger Games, the 75^th Quarter Quell which recruited former victors of all the past games.
