AMC Networks has renewed Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches for a third season, which will be set in Salem, Massachusetts. Thomas Schnauz (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) has come on board as co-showrunner alongside series co-creator Esta Spalding as part of a two-year overall deal with AMC Studios, Deadline can reveal.
Season 3 of Mayfair Witches, starring Alexandra Daddario, will dive deeper into the mythology of witchcraft, introduce new ‘spellbound’ families and feature some of the historical happenings of Salem, the infamous town of witch trials and folklore. It follows the first two seasons, which were set in New Orleans, the most recent of them ending its run March 2.
“I am thrilled to welcome Tom Schnauz to our team for the third season of Mayfair Witches,” said Spalding, who served as showrunner on Seasons 1 and 2 and is also under an overall deal at AMC Studios. “A contemporary twist on the Salem story, it promises to be our most delicious yet.”

The second series in AMC Networks’ Anne Rice Immortal Universe, Mayfair Witches stars Daddario, Harry Hamlin, Tongayi Chirisa and Alyssa Jirrels.
“The drama and complexities of the Mayfair family continue to be an intriguing and enchanting source of story, and expanding that story against the backdrop of Salem, a historical haven of witchcraft, is an exciting next chapter for this series and our larger Anne Rice Immortal Universe,” said Dan McDermott, President of Entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks. “Tom Schnauz has a storied history with AMC, and we’re elated to have him join the talented Esta Spalding and our Mayfair cast for a season that will explore a larger world of witchery and Mayfair family secrets as we continue to build out this dynamic franchise.”
Mayfair Witches Season 3 is executive produced by Mark Johnson, who oversees the Anne Rice Immortal Universe for AMC, co-showrunners Spalding and Schnauz, Michelle Ashford and Tom Williams for AMC Studios
Johnson executive produced AMC’s Breaking Bad and prequel series Better Call Saul, on both of which Schnauz served as writer-producer, sharing into Breaking Bad‘s two Emmy wins for Outstanding Drama Series and landing writing Emmy nominations for both series.
“I’m incredibly excited to reunite with both AMC and Mark Johnson on Mayfair Witches,” Schnauz said. “The work I’ve done so far with Esta Spalding on Season 3 has been fantastic and fun and we’re hoping that translates to the screen for fans and new viewers of the show.”
On the AMC upfront’s red carpet, Chirisa told Deadline that he hopes Season 3 will explore “what happens to the Mayfair family, how does that affect the order of things, what does Cip discover within the Talamasca, how much of the Talamasca did he not know were in cahoots with XYZ?” (You can watch the video below.)
In addition to Mayfair Witches, AMC Networks’ Anne Rice Immortal Universe includes Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, returning for a third season next year, and Anne Rice’s The Talamasca: The Secret Order, from John Lee Hancock and Mark Lafferty and starring Nicholas Denton and Elizabeth McGovern, debuting this fall.
Schnauz most recently was an executive producer on Season 2 of Prime Video’s The Boys spinoff Gen V and directed an episode. He is repped by Adventure Media and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
