‘The Night Agent’ Tops Netflix TV List With Season 2 Debut; ‘Back In Action’ Sets Sights On Most Popular Film List

The Night Agent is back on top among Netflix series. The second season of the action series racked up 13.9M views in its first few days on the streamer, putting it at No. 1 on the English-language TV list from March 20 to 26.

This is a solid start for the latest installment, although it is down compared to Season 1’s premiere week reception. At the time, Netflix was still reporting viewership in “hours viewed,” reporting that Season 1 amassed 168.7M hours viewed in its debut week. That translates to about 21M views.

Season 1 still reigns as the seventh most popular English-language Netflix series of all time, so it will be interesting to see where Season 2 lands. At the very least, the buzz around Season 2 was enough to propel Season 1 back on the Top 10 list at No. 4 with 4.9M views.

The Peter Sutherland-starring series couldn’t quite claim most-watched title of the week though, as that went to Back in Action. That film stayed atop the English film list for the second consecutive week, raking in another 46.8M views.

That means the Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx film has already hit about 93M views in less than two weeks. It only needs about 43M more views to make it onto the most popular list for English films, which seems likely considering it has around 80 days left in its premiere window to do so.

Back over on the TV side of things, XO, Kitty claimed second place with another 9.2M views for Season 2. The first season was also on the list at No. 5 with 3.8M views. The spinoff series even brought attention back to the film that started it all, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, which landed on the English film list at No. 6 with 3.1M views.

American Primeval continued to perform fairly well with 6.7M views, good enough for third place. And let’s not forget about Squid Game Season 2, which tallied another 7.9M views this week, remaining at No. 1 on the non-English series list.
