What happened in SeveranceSeason 1?

Mark Scout (Adam Scott) found the “severance” procedure — in which his work-life persona is completely separated from his home-life persona — to be working out just fine until he became suspicious of the activity within his workplace. This is largely thanks to Helly Riggs (Britt Lower) the newest addition to the crew who are severed within Lumen. Mark decided to get the surgery because his wife died, but the end of Season 1 revealed that she was, in fact, still alive in the form of Ms. Casey (Dichen Lachman).

Mark’s neighbor outside of Lumen also happens to be his boss within the company Harmony Cobel (Patricia Arquette). Together, Mark, Helly and their coworkers Dylan George (Zach Cherry) and Irving Bailiff (John Turturro) attempt to pierce the severed barrier to uncover what is truly going on at Lumen, but the company’s consequences for this range in the forms of punishment, and even torture.
