As of Monday, 2.8 million registered vehicles, 754,303 are electric, 753,905 are gasoline-powered, and 999,715 are diesel. According to the agency, over 1 million gasoline cars have been taken out of circulation in the last 20 years, with the number of diesel vehicles also falling. “The speed at which we are seeing the replacement of the passenger car fleet now may indicate that in 2026 we will also have more electric cars than diesel cars,” OFV Director Oyvind Solberg Thorsen said.
