I haven’t read a book this fast in a single sitting in a very long time.

A previous fan of Paul’s character in The League (Andre Nowzick), I looked forward to reading “Joyful Recollections of Trauma” and if you’ve ever watched anything with Paul (The League, HDTGM, Unspooled and Dinosaur Improv (live) of course), then you’ll appreciate that Paul’s humor translates well into the book (and audiobook if you dare).

Paul Scheer somehow makes reliving pain a delightful rollercoaster of hilarity. Like Paul, I’m an only child sensitive to milk with ADHD, which helped me find the dark humor in this emotional rollercoaster you didn’t know you needed—sidesplitting funny, heartbreakingly real, and strangely uplifting. Please use caution with reading this book in public, it might leave you embarrassed after laughing out loud next to the Karen sipping her Carmel mocha latte or whatever sugary substance she is unhappily drinking.

Looking forward to this hopefully being optioned off as a movie or TV show.

“Could you die if you don’t have your pill?”

I’d lean back in my chair, pop a Lactaid pill in my mouth, take a hard swallow, and dramatically say, “Almost did.”
